One of our favorite performing artist is Angelique Kidjo from Benin Africa, she is a world renown grammy award-winning singer and a true ambassador for the plight of her beloved motherland. When one hears the sirenic sound coming from her very little frame, you can’t help but be impressed.
This summer Angelique is in the US again after many years of touring around the world, but only in a few select cities.
We choose to go to see her in Seattle WA in September.
Plans for the Big Event
- Secure those hard-to-get tickets early.
- Book your hotel, flight and ground transportation; occupancy goes up closer to the big event and so does the rates.
- Get to know the city, check out maps and to-do guides.
- Befriend the artist or fans of the artist on Twitter and Facebook, you might get exclusive information.
It is a new tradition for us, one unforgettable summer concert every year, in whatever city we fancy visiting.
Our generation was raised on timeless music, as teenagers we witnessed the greatness of superstars: Bob Marley, John Denver and John Lennon but we will never get the chance to see them in person. That is why it is important for us to see the likes of: Sting, Bob Dylan, JayZ, Beres Hammond, Phil Collins, Juan Luis Guerra, Sade, Anita Baker and Celine Dion just to name a few.
Being in the middle of a Phil Collins – or anyone of the above mentioned greats – concert is an unreal experience. The technical excellence, the surreal ambiance, the frenzy brewing with every song and the rapture of familiarity you get because you know every word.
For keepsake my wife bought a scrapbook we’ll keep the ticket stubs, pictures from the event, autographs (if we’re so lucky) and other memorabilia.
These summer’s events will fit just nicely into our 52 weekend experiences.
We had planned to visit Seattle anyway so the concert is just a fitting reason to go sooner. For this trip we plan to truly enjoy the city while immersing ourselves into the music of Angelique Kidjo. Really truly enjoying the experience.
