Most Imaginative

Driving from Kingston to Negril is a hike, in Jamaican distance that is. The roads are not the smoothest and besides you shouldn’t really just drive straight anyway.

My girlfriend of two years and I have very stressful jobs in the city Kingston, and from earlier on in our relationship we decided that we were going to visit every nook and cranny in Jamaica even if it takes a lifetime.

This weekend we’re heading on the north coast our trip will take us through little towns and pass incredible vistas, we will run up against the ocean near Ocho Rios, traverse through busy Montego Bay and then get into Negril just on time to see the friday evening sunset, all about 4 hours driving.

In Jamaica it is tradition to “pull-up” ever few miles at a rum bar. The first stop we made was in a town call Priory. There we meet a fellow patron name Ezekiel, who immediately sized us up and could tell us that we were dating and that “children were coming”. He suggest that I purchase as soon as I can a bottle of Strongback with sassiperilla (a concoction made up of locals weeds) he said that it will allow me to “work” much more effectively.
We drank our last sips of coconut water and white rum (it’s jamaica Ok) and took to the road again, giggling as we left.

As planned we got into Negril just as the sun was setting, it was brethtaking! We made a stop in on Rick’s Cafe, a famous place in Negril to eat, watch crazy people jump off the cliff into the sea below and where lovers watch the sun go into the sea.
Afterwards we checked into our hotel room at the RockHouse Hotel, I’ve always wanted to visit here, the individual villas are secluded and over look the ocean.

I called ahead to plan a little something, something for our first night and so unbeknown to my fiancee, the hotel staff had set-up champagne on ice, rose petals on the bed and lanterns on the balcony, so romantic!

The next day Saturday after breakfast we went down to the beach, the famous 9 miles of the purest white sands anywhere in the world. The secluded beach was the perfect place to go topless and my fiancee did not disappoint.
Later that day we heard that their was a reggae beach party going on just a short walking distance away. When we got there people from all over were just Jamming to the pulsating reggae music, we joined the party and before you know it, two sweaty but happy people were stumbling back to the cottage.
That night we sat on the balcony and enjoyed pan chicken, which is a local favorite in Jamaica, it is like a cross between barbecue and jerk. The rain started up, which sent us scurrying inside…..just in time!

Back to Ezekiel, the advice did work you’re genius mon!
